Accra, Sept. 8, GNA - Mr Sampson Anim, an Evangelist of Church of Christ, Accra Newtown branch, has cautioned the youth to avoid pre-marital sex during relationship.
He explained that relationship was to ascertain the character of each other and not to indulge in sex.
Mr Anim was addressing a youth seminar organised by the Youth Fellowship of Church of Christ, in Accra on Thursday on the theme: 94The Secret of Relationship".
He noted that most of the youth did not consider pertinent issues before engaging in relationship and this later resulted in conflicts and break-ups of the relationship, mostly based on monetary issues.
Mr Anim advised the study each other thoroughly before engaging in lifetime relationships.
He urged women to endeavour to be gainfully employed before marriage to help reduce stress in the home and not to be taken for granted by their husbands who had to solely cater for the family.
Mr Anim advised parents not to be too demanding on their in-laws during the performance of customary rites of their daughters, while they refrained from interfering in the marriage of their children.
Mrs Pauline Amanyo, a trader, asked the youth to keep issues about themselves and their companions secret and be open-minded to create respect and trust for each other.
She noted that age difference between a man and a woman in relationship towards marriage ideally should be about five years.
Mrs Amanyo said people who often keep homosexual or interracial relationships secret sometimes encountered problems that could jeopardise their relationship in future.
Mr Gregory Amegah, a participant, commended the organisers of the seminar for creating the opportunity for the youth to learnt more about relationship and how to sustain it.
Mr Afedi Tetteh, President of Church of Christ Youth Fellowship, Accra Newtown branch, said the seminar was to educate the youth on the need to keep their relationship secret to avoid conflicts.
He said a research conducted revealed that most of them assumed that entering into relationship was mainly for sex.
