Focus on Christian stewardship, giving and uprightness - Dzandu-Hedidor

Reverend Roger Nukunu Dzandu-Hedidor, Chaplain and Guidance and Counseling Coordinator of Chemu Senior High School has advised Christians to focus on Christian stewardship, giving and uprightness.

He said “Christian virtues should be the main focus of a Christian" and urged choristers to lead upright lives to fulfill the will of God.

Rev Dzandu-Hedidor said this when he delivered a sermon to climax activities marking the 40th anniversary celebration of Evangelical Presbyterian Church Choir of Bubiashie (EPCCB) in Accra.

The choir used the anniversary as a day of reminiscence on their achievements and failures over the years and the event was on the theme: "Singing to enhance human dignity".

Rev Dzandu-Hedidor said the relevance of singing was a gift which moved the human body to respond positively and in fulfillment.

He said God redeemed mankind to impart positively on the society, adding that "we were saved to be redeemed and be prevented from being slaves to sin".

Rev Dzandu-Hedidor said some events and issues occurring in the society were due to the fact that, mankind, had relented in speaking the truth and doing the will of God and cautioned the choristers to enhance their human dignity so that people would not have the cause to question their disposition.

He appealed to the congregation to lead worthy lives and register during the impending biometric voter registration exercise.

Rev Lordson Joseph Kodzo Dzakpasu, former Synod Clerk of the Church and District Pastor of the Bubiashie E.P. Church, said the choir was as important as the preacher and that 40 years, though a remarkable achievement, was also important for them to identify their strengths and weaknesses to guide them on which direction to take.

He said the theme for the event was appropriate and that singing as a ministry to be undertaken in an excellent manner to affect human life positively and give glory to God.

Rev Dzakpasu said singing was a calling to people to become agents of change for the society and challenged the choristers to use singing to raise the low spirits of others.

Mr Robert Akude-Ntumi, Life Patron of the choir, commended the choir for remembering the late Mr Konu, an educationist and a politician on whose shoulders the choir grew to its present stage.

Mr George Godonu, President of the choir, expressed appreciation to God that the choir had attained 40 years and encouraged the members to eschew the habit of back biting, hatred and fill their minds with things that were good and praiseworthy.

He said the EPCCB formed in February 1972 with 17 members but now has 53 active members, adding that, other activities planned for the anniversary were talk shows, clean up exercises and musical explosion participated by choirs from Nima, Odorkor, Kaneshie, Abeka, Mallam and Darkuman branches of the E.P. Church.**
