Takoradi, Feb. 3, GNA - Colonel Retired John Kwamina Otoo, the Anglican Bishop of the Sekondi-Takoradi Diocese, has encouraged Christians to invest in the wellbeing of their churches. He said many congregations have the requisite potential that could assist in accomplishing the mission and vision of the Church. Bishop Otoo said these at the sod-cutting ceremony at the All Saints Anglican Church in Takoradi for the construction of a 450,000-cedi modern chapel to replace the over 80 year old building. He said Christians as people of God must be bold and courageous, disciplined, respectful and God fearing in all their dealings and should not allow material prosperity to override their interests and desire for God.
Bishop Otoo urged members of the building committee to work hard and ensure that they complete the task in time and also do a neat work. Mr. Harrison Akrofi, the project committee chairman, said the new chapel would seat 1,200 members and would have a conference room, special rooms for breastfeeding mothers, washrooms, choir, alter servers and ministers' rooms. He said members of the congregation would raise funds to support the project, adding that a special levy was instituted over three years ago and the church council had approved 40,000 Ghana cedis for the project.
