Ghana Baptist Convention inducts Rev Ocansey as General Secretary

Accra, Feb. 5, GNA – Rev David Nartey Ocansey, Head Pastor of Mount Zion Baptist Church was on Saturday inducted into office as General Secretary of the Ghana Baptist Convention.

The induction took place at the All Souls Baptist Church at Osu in Accra, and was officiated by Senior Pastors of the convention and fellowship across the country.

The President of the Ghana Baptist Convention, Rev Dr Stephen Asante, charged the General Secretary to proclaim his call by God to do his work.

He said he should listen to God and advised the church on how to managed its resources, adding “if you fail as General Secretary, the convention at a whole is failed”.

Rev Asante the assignment as General Secretary is to rescue the mission of God and make life bearable to the poor and needy in the Baptist society.

He noted that the responsibility is a blessing to Rev Ocansey and his family and the convention as whole.

“It is not the General Secretary alone who will be working, we should all stay focus in the handling of the position.

“Rev Ocansey is a man you can trust, I trust him, the Baptist convention trust him and the All African Baptist Fellowship trust him.”

Rev Ocansey said, “his position as General Secretary will be used to rescue the convention as charge by the President of the convention”.

He said his new position was a call by God to someone to do his work and a dedication and thanked the church for the confidence reposed in him.

Rev Ocansey was born on 24 November 1952 in Accra.

He is an accountant with professional training from the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administration- Finance and Administration.

He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK, Chartered Institute of Bankers UK, Master of Arts in Ministry, Ghana Baptist University College and also attended various short courses for professional development in various disciplines.
