The Great Commission Church International – Ghana is to elect its National Executive Council members to steer the affairs of the Church from July 2013 to July 2018.
This election is schedule to take place at the Church’s next General Council Meeting, which comes off at the Ghana Christian University College, Amrahia, Accra from 3rd to 6th January, 2013.
This was contained in a release signed by Elder Samuel Doku, GCCI Electoral Commission Chairman and made available to the Ghana News Agency on Sunday.
According to the release, Apostle Dr Samuel Asuming-Brempong and Apostle Samuel Vincent Ansah are the candidates for the National Chairmanship portfolio. While Apostle Richard Kwami Adanu and Rev Godson Kwasi Gbloe log horns for both the Vice Chairman Missions and Vice Chairman Finance and Administration portfolios.
It said Rev Samuel Kwaku Tattagah is the sole candidate for the Director of Evangelism of the Church.
The release said in accordance with Act 5.2 of the Church’s constitution the composition of General Council shall include the Executive Council members, Board of Trustees, all ordained Pastors of the Church and Presiding Elders.
Others are chairmen of all committees and boards, ecclesiastical regional representatives of men and women ministries, and ministers’ wives.
Other delegates include two youth representatives from each ecclesiastical region; male and female, wives of the Executive Council members and discretionary invitees without voting powers.
In April 1991, Great Commission Church International started on the campus of the University of Ghana, Legon. Apostles Joseph Felix Kwesi Mensah, Samuel Asuming-Brempong, Komla Ebenezer Hagan, Samuel Vincent Ansah, Derek Sarpong, Richard Kwami Adanu and Joseph Kwabena Antwi are the founding fathers.
Apostle Mensah served as the first Chairman of the Church for 12 consecutive years, while Apostle Antwi is heading towards the end of his second five year mandate in July, 2013.
