The Reverend Dr. Paul Frimpong-Manso, General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church, Ghana, has admonished people in leadership positions to be humble and modest.

They should also be accountable to those they were leading and do away with any traits of arrogance.

He asked them to learn to serve and must not expect to be served.

He made the call at the 70th anniversary celebration of the Old-Tafo Gospel Centre Assemblies of Church, in Kumasi.

The church was planted by in 1947 through the support of some European missionaries.

The theme chosen for the anniversary was “Great is thy faithfulness, Oh Lord”.

Dr. Frimpong Manso described the theme as most appropriate because it highlighted the need for honest stewardship that was expected of not only church leaders but everybody, who considered themselves as children of God.

He used the occasion to underline the need for the church to take centre stage in efforts at bringing progress to the people.

He pointed out that society was increasingly becoming dynamic and it was important the church made itself relevant to the physical needs of the people and society at large, even as it sought to promote the spiritual growth of the population.

It must focus on fighting poverty, tackling the growing economic challenges and corruption.

The General Superintendent eulogized the founding fathers of the church for their foresight and perseverance in the face of teething problems.

The Rev Dr. Sarpong Kumakuma, the Old-Tafo District Pastor, applauded the pioneering role of the Gospel Centre – having raised over 17 pastors, serving as Area Heads across the nation.
