MDCC denies clashes at Peace Festival

Gomoa Mozano (C/R), Aug. 29, GNA - There is absolute peace within the Musama Disco Christo Church (MDCC), the Reverend Samuel Soma Jehu-Appiah, General Secretary of the Church, has stated. Addressing members of the Church at Mozano near Eshiem in the Gomoa District of the Central Region on Saturday, at the beginning of the 10-day "Asomdwe Afe" or Peace Festival of the Church, he stated that there had been no factionalism within the MDCC after the 2003 Swedru High Court ruling that removed Jonas Maritiah Jehu-Appiah, Akaboha III, as the spiritual head of the Church.

The General Secretary denied reports by some Radio Stations in the morning of the festival that factions within the Church had clashed. He noted that the Police had gone to a Cape Coast Magistrate Court two weeks ago to seek order to stop the celebration, which was quashed last Thursday by a High Court "because there was no merit in the case". The Reverend Pamasota A Boamah, Diocesan Minister in charge of the Church at Mozano, in a welcoming address observed that even though the MDCC was going through what he called "trials and troubles" nothing could stop the festival celebration.

He urged the members to refrain from acts that militated against the spiritual growth of the Church and charged Pastors, Elders and Leaders of the MDCC to pray and fast for the development of the Church during the ongoing festival.

Rev Boamah advised them against using the pulpit to "sow seeds of discord" instead of "mending fences" and commended members of the Planning Committee for their hard work and dedication.
