Methodist Retreat Centre inaugurated in Kumasi

Kumasi, March 16, GNA - The Most Reverend Dr Robert Aboagye-Mensah, Presiding Bishop of the Conference of the Methodist Church, Ghana, on Sunday inaugurated a new 266,000 Ghana-cedi Methodist Retreat Centre at Kwadaso in Kumasi.

The Centre, which has three chalets, auditorium, accommodation facilities, administration block, garden and recreational facilities, was financed by the Association of Methodist Men's Fellowships, Ghana, through levies, voluntary pledges, as well as fund-raising activities at diocesan, circuit and branch levels. It would serve as a serene environment for holding conferences and retreats for the study of the word of God. Most Rev Dr Aboagye-Mensah commended the fellowships for their foresight which would help the church uplift the spiritual well-being of the congregation.

He said the association being the bedrock of the church had helped in diverse ways, including evangelism activities to increase the church membership in recent times.

The Right-Reverend Professor Emmanuel Asante, Methodist Bishop of Kumasi, called on other societies in the church to emulate the fellowships by also support and initiate more development projects. Mr Richard Quarshie, National Chairman of the association, praised the Kumasi Diocesan Men's Fellowships which initiated the project in 2000 and was later adopted as a national project by the National Executive Committee of the association. He appealed to the members to continue to contribute towards the completion of the multi-purpose hall of the centre by the end of the year to coincide with the silver jubilee of the fellowship.
