An National Democratic Congress (NDC) Aspirant in the Odododiodio Constituency in the greater Accra region, Space Okoe Clottey is describing the regional elections held over the weekend, as disgraceful to a party that touts itself as democracy.
Abraham Space Okoe ClotteyMr Clottey who lost, accused the aspirants of bribing the 275 delegates with various amounts of money and tv plasma among other things.
He was so disappointed in the aspirants and the delegates for making money the main issue instead of the qualities of the aspirants.
Speaking on the Morning Show of Rainbow Radio International, Mr Clottey said, the NDC has no moral justification to accuse the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of capitalism and any electoral vice.
'What I saw is unimaginable when a Deputy Trade Minister has bundles of notes in her car boot sharing to the delegates', he added.
He said, money assumed predominance and those who could not give the delegates huge sums of money had no place in being elected irrespective of their competence and achievements.
This he said, breeds corruption when such people get into their offices and have no recourse to their mandate.
He lambasted the incumbent executives of manipulating the electoral process to their advantage. Explaining that, whereas the new entrants did not know their positions on the ballot papers, the incumbents knew theirs and printed t-shirts a day before for their election.
