The Sunyani Circuit of the Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) has climaxed its 70th anniversary celebration with a thanks-giving service at the Mount Olivet Methodist Church at Baakoniaba, a suburb in Sunyani.
Past circuit and diocesan officers of the Fellowship and other individuals who have contributed immensely toward its growth were honoured with plaques.
Very Reverend Dr Isaac Ishmael Arthur, the Minister-in-charge of the Mount Olivet Methodist Church, urged the youth of the church to leave meaningful legacies for society by making good use of their God-given talents.
He said God had given everyone a talent but the responsibility depended on the individual to nurture, develop and use the talent for the benefit of oneself and the society.
Very Reverend Arthur, who is also a lecturer at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), said a lot of people misuse their God-given talents and tended to regret their wasted years.
He urged the youth to avail themselves to various leadership positions as they criticize those in ineffective positions.
Brother Christian Gaisey-Otoo, the Sunyani Circuit Chairman of the Fellowship, paid tribute to the past executives for their hard work and the high level of dedication exhibited when in office.
He urged members to re-dedicate themselves for the course of the Fellowship and also endeavour to lead exemplary lives in the society.
The MYF is the leading youth organisation within the Methodist Church Ghana. It seeks to provide a platform for the youth in the Church to have a deeper understanding of the bible through bible studies to enable them to engage in effective evangelisation.
