The Tema North District of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana has organised a Valedictory Service at the Trinity Presby Congregation in Community 4 , Tema, in honour of Rev. Dr. Isaac Kwaku Fokuo on Sunday, 10 th September, 2017 to mark his retirement from active pastoral work .
Rev. Dr. Isaac Kwaku Fokuo who has served as the District Pastor for the Tema North District of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana and the Minister in charge of the Trinity Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Community 4, Tema , for the past seven years is due for retirement after forty eight(48) years of dedicated service to the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
Citations from various congregations and organisations of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana gave testimonies of the remarkable spiritual growth , rapid development and church growth that the Tema North District of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana had experienced under the spiritual guidance and leadership of Rev. Dr. Isaac Fokuo.
Rev. Dr. Isaac Kwaku Fokuo was ordained as a priest in the Presbyterian Church of Ghana at the age of twenty-two (22) years and has held many responsible positions in the Church including the Chairman of the Western Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
Rev. Dr. Isaac Kwaku Fokuo was described as a compassionate person who devoted his whole life to working in the Lord’s vineyard and spreading the gospel to all corners of the country.
In his valedictory sermon on the theme “Love one another”, Rev. Dr Isaac Kwaku Fokuo asked the congregation to allow the love of God to rule their lives. “The love of God compels us to live and die for Christ and to love one another. It also breaks us down to submit totally to the will of God and shows us the way”, he said.
Dwelling on Ezekiel 33: 1-9 and Romans 13: 8-14 and other Biblical quotations, Rev. Dr. Isaac Fokuo affirmed that the love of God is a responsible watchman in the life of a Christian.
He emphasised that the love of God warns the wicked and helps us to seek the good of others.
The joint presentation of the profile of Rev. Dr. Isaac Kwaku Fokuo by the Senior Presbyter of the Trinity congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Tema North and the Session Clerk of the congregation provided detailed information of the life of Rev. Dr. Isaac Kwaku Fokuo to confirm that he is an outstanding Priest, an academic, teacher, Religious writer and a person with deep compassion for the poor and rejected in society.
Presenting the citation of the Tema North District and Trinity congregation to Rev. Dr. Isaac Fokuo, Major General Obed Akwa, the Chief of Defence Staff, praised Rev. Dr. Isaac Kwaku Fokuo for leading exemplary life as a priest and commended him for his adherence to time.
“When I was invited to the valedictory service of Rev. Dr. Isaac Fokuo , I knew the service will start on time. We need such discipline in our national life”, he said.
Rev. Dr. Isaac Fokuo expressed his gratitude and that of his family to the congregation for the support given to him by the church. He made a passionate appeal to the congregation to continue the small charity work he had started that involved feeding the destitute including people with mental problems on public holidays.
The valedictory service which was in honour of Rev. Dr. Isaac Kwaku Fokuo was attended by a large crowd of representatives from sister congregations, church groups, family members, traditional rulers, pastors and church agents of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana including Rev. Dr. Sulle Sah, the Chairman of the Northern Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana who was mentored by Rev. Dr. Fokuo and other well-wishers
