The World Assemblies of God Fellowship (WAGF) has announced that its 2026 World Congress will be held in Accra, Ghana, marking the first time in the organization's 110-year history that the event will take place on the African continent.

The announcement was made by Rev. Dominic Yeo, Global Chairman of WAGF, during the Executive Meeting held in Accra.

Speaking at a press conference on September 11, 2024, Rev. Yeo praised Ghana for its peaceful and democratic environment, which played a key role in the decision to host the congress in the country.

"The choice of Ghana for the upcoming congress was informed largely by the peaceful and free environment Ghana has had over the years," Yeo said.

He highlighted the country’s stable political climate, with democratic elections held every four years, as a model of tolerance and coexistence.

Rev. Yeo projected that the event will attract tens of thousands of delegates from all over the world, boosting local businesses, tourism, and investment opportunities.

"The congress will push Ghana higher on the world stage, grow businesses, and attract investors to the country," Yeo added.

The 2026 event will be the culmination of extensive planning by the WAGF Executive Council, who are meeting in Accra to lay the groundwork for the congress.

The World Congress, which has previously been held in cities such as Seoul, São Paulo, and Singapore, is a major global gathering for Assemblies of God adherents.

The last congress was held in Madrid, Spain, in 2023, where Ghana was officially chosen to host the next edition.

The 2026 WAGF Congress is expected to bring major economic benefits to Ghana.

With 86 million members globally and 24 million in Africa, the Assemblies of God is one of the largest and fastest-growing denominations worldwide.
