Accra, Dec 11, GNA – The Management and staff of Zoomlion Ghana Limited have held an end of year praise and thanksgiving service to show their appreciation to God for seeing them through the year with eight prestigious awards.
The occasion, which climaxed a week-long activities of thanksgiving, coincided with the fifth anniversary of the company, which is Ghana’s leading waste management entity.
Speaking at the service, Dr Joseph Siaw Agyepong, Chief Executive Officer of Zoomlion, noted that the year 2011 would go down memory as “unforgettable” after seeing Zoomlion towering very high on the international front as they moved their expansion drive to Zambia, Liberia and Equatorial Guinea.
The thanksgiving event, which is marked annually, is under the theme: “O Give thanks to the Lord; for He is Good....”
This year’s event attracted worshippers from far and near who joined Zoomlion to give thanks to God for 2011 and offer prayers for a peaceful 2012.
The Chief Executive attributed the tremendous strides by the company to that fact of making God the centre of their strength and urged all business people to depend on their maker for the growth of their businesses.
“Zoomlion Ghana Limited has a staff strength of 70,000 and it is part of the Jospong Group of Companies, which has 34 other companies,” he said.
Dr Agyepong acknowledged the invaluable support given by the Government to the private sector, explaining, “Without such support, we wouldn’t have been able to grow and employ all these wonderful people.”
He expressed his gratitude to all the stakeholders, especially the Ministries, Departments and Agencies, clients, bankers and the media for the support rendered to Zoomlion and its other sister companies.
He urged Ghanaians to always be reminded of and guided by the first two lines of the national anthem, which says: “God Bless Our Homeland Ghana and Make our Nation Great and Strong. Bold to defend Forever….”
He advised: “We must all be bold and defend our country Ghana by showing commitment and loyalty in our work and wherever we may find ourselves.”
The Chief Executive dedicated the awards won this year to the hard working staff and management of the company.
The Chief Director of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Nana Oduro Kwarteng, commended Zoomlion for the exemplary work being done in ensuring that Ghanaians lived in a clean environment.
He expressed the Ministry’s continuous support to all the waste management experts and pledged to offer them an enabling environment to ensure that they discharged their duties successfully.
Dr Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, Mayor of the Accra, expressed his continuous collaboration with Zoomlion and other waste management companies to meet their aim and target of getting the country rid of filth.
He challenged Ghanaians to keep their environment clean and not to litter around.
Mrs Dzifa Ativor, Deputy Minister of Transport, commended the Jospong Group of Companies for complementing the work of the Government in creating jobs and facilitating the development of the nation as well as the people.
“Our collaboration with Zoil Ghana, a subsidiary of Zoomlion has saved 2000 lives on the Volta Lake with the provision of lifejackets and security services,” she said.
Apostle Ephraim Barabu, Apostle Samuel Ansong and Apostle Noble Atsu, all of the Church of Pentecost, prayed for the President of Ghana, the nation, stakeholders of Zoomlion, new subsidiaries of the Jospong Group of Companies, a peaceful 2012 election and for the management and staff of Jospong Group of Companies.
