Addo-Kufuor Packs Bag And Baggage

…Handing Over Notes, Resignation Letter Submitted
Pieces of information reaching The Point indicate that the Minister of Defence, Dr. Kwame Addo Kufuor, one of the NPP presidential aspirants tipped to win the party's primaries in December 2007 as at press time yesterday has finished packing his belongings out of the Ministry. According to the information, the minister has also finished preparing his handing over notes and resignation letter and expected to officially wave goodbye to some senior officers of his Ministry.

The information further added that, the Minister has taken this bold decision to prove his confidence and capability of leading the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to election 2008.

Dr. Addo -Kufuor is credited with a number of development projects at the various military barracks in the country. Through his leadership he was able to restore confidence among the officers and men of the Ghana Armed Forces.

"We will forever miss such a humble minister and we wish him well and pray NPP gives him the nod so that he would become the commander -in -chief of the Ghana Armed Forces," one officer told this paper.

A source close to Dr. Addo-Kufuor said he would go all out to campaign for the position which he believes he would win hands down because of the massive support he enjoys from the party faithful.

Meanwhile, sources at the Ministry have disclosed to this paper that, members of staff at the Ministry were full of praise for the Minister when he said his final words to them yesterday afternoon. The source added that, he was applauded for his enviable achievements since he assumed office as the Minister for Defence.

Source cited the new Burma Hall and the massive renovation at the 37 Military Hospital as some of the major infrastructural achievement that the Minister has brought to the Ministry.

"I believe with his enormous achievements and worth of experience, he is capable of succeeding President Kufuor. He has the experience that a President needs" the source emphasized.
