Bawumai’s Second Marriage Collapsing Over Infidelity

By Cecil Mensah

Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, the man, widely tipped by stalwarts in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to partner Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the 2012 presidential elections, can best be described as one of the most egoistic Ghanaian men, who have no magnanimity for women, because he sacked his first wife on the flimsy excuse of her being an illiterate, whose level of education, did not match with his status as a Deputy Governor of Bank of Ghana (BoG).

Faithful, beautiful and serviceable Madam Hajara Chebo, an ideal wife in the eyes of many, including friends was given the marching orders out of her marriage by her husband, who had risen to the prestigious and enviable position of Deputy Governor BoG, because by his standards, she was uneducated and incompatible with his new status in life.

The crux of the matter is that Dr. Bawumia, after he had sacked his first wife for being an illiterate, is now contemplating sacking his second wife, Samira, the beautiful daughter of the National Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Alhaji Ahmed Ramadan over claims of adultery, after leaving the goddess to her fate of loneliness, seeking greener pastures in Zimbabwe.

According to family sources, the failed Vice -President, is on the verge of parting ways with the lady over the alleged acts of infidelity and adultery.

The gentleman, who was missing at the recently held NPP rally at the “Mantse Agbonaa’ in the Odododiodio Constituency, to introduce the party’s parliamentary candidates in the Greater Accra Region to the teeming supporters, left the wife and went globetrotting, the very moment Nana Addo, lost the general elections to Prof. John Evans Atta-Mills in 2009.

Dr. Bawumia, a staunch Ahmadiya Muslim, took his first appointment abroad as an Associate Professor at a Canadian university to lecture in Economics.

He later left that job to take another appointment with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Zimbabwe. In all these trips abroad, the wife was left alone at home with the kids, spending sleepless nights on their king seize bed.

Sources told The Herald that when the party lost the elections in 2009, Dr. Bawumia, who was before then working as a Deputy Governor of Bank of Ghana (BoG), before he was tactfully induced by the “Akyem Mafia” to partner Nana Addo, embarked on various trips abroad, leaving, the wife and the three beautiful children at the mercy of the Ghanaian weather.

After all this experience of being left at the Kanda residence of the Economist, alone after several years of marriage, the lovesick lady enrolled for a Master’s degree at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA,) to avoid being killed by loneliness.

It’s this same course that has allegedly landed the lady, who in 2008 campaigned for Dr. Bawumia more than he did for himself, in the arms of another man at GIMPA.

The Herald learnt that as a result of the alleged relationship with the unnamed GIMPA mate, charming Samira shunned the service of her driver, who was assigned to drive her around, and started going out late in the night irrespective of her matrimonial status.

Dr. Bawumia, known in his Tamale Secondary School (TAMASCO) days as ‘Bob last, “is said to have been informed about his wife’s new attitude, and since then the once happy marriage has turned bad.

Unconfirmed reports say that but for the intervention of ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor and many others recently, Ghanaians would have woken up to the rude shock of their lives that Dr. Bawumia’s separation from his wife.

Ex-President’s Kufuor’s intervention seen mainly to be for political reasons, has for now done some magic to get Dr. Bawumia to rescind his decision to send his second wife parking.

However, close family sources say the gentleman is still habouring the decision to sack the lady from her matrimonial home, in spite of the shock and inconvenience such a separation would bring to their innocent children.

The source said the lady, whose beauty has stunned a lot of men, is terribly worried about the developments in her home since the husband returned home to pursue his political agenda, although the party’s constitution bars him from becoming the next vice- presidential material.

Madam Samira Ramadan, The Herald has learnt, was last spotted at a public gathering of an uncle of one of the loud- mouthed female parliamentary candidate of NPP, visibly distraught, perhaps because of the fractured relationship in her matrimonial home.
