Did JAK visit Eyadema for Juju?

Kufuor?s secret visit to Togo ?more revelations

Following our story last Monday (20th ? 22nd May 2002) on how Togolese President Eyadema?s Security Guard ?saved? our President from a fowl that was fluttering to death, the ?Ghanaian Voice? has gathered that President Kufuor even went to Togo alone.

In other words, contrary to normal practice in relation to such visits, he was not accompanied by any of his Ministers which normally should include the Foreign Affairs Minister Hon. Hackman Owusu Agyeman, he lonely traveled with a BNI officer who the ?Ghanaian Voice? gathered was one Mr. Mensah.

The story as we captured last Monday was shown on Togolese television with all the attachment of ritualistic practices into which we shall lead Ghanaians on Monday.

In the government?s reaction to our story Mr. Kwabena Agyepong the Deputy Government Spokesman spoke to ?Radio Gold? behind the scene and described our story as ?irresponsible?.

Mr. Kwabena Agyepong did not deny the story, which was shown country wide on Togo television and this reporter picked it up at Aflao.

We do not see the irresponsibility in letting Ghanaians see the ?ordeal? through which our President went since it was not a secret coverage.

It was shown live on Togolese television and was seen in most parts of the Volta Region where Channel one (1) has been dedicated to Togolese television and channel two (2) to Ghana Television (GTV). Everybody who had access to television therefore saw what Kwabena Agyepong described as "irresponsibility".

If the NPP government did not want Ghanaians to see what our President went through in Togo and why he went alone, it should have advised the Togolese government to have ?close-circuited? the coverage.

Indeed Kwabena Agyepong and the NPP government, if they care, can ask their friend, indeed bosom friend President Eyadema to give them a copy of the proceedings of what happened in Togo a day after the first anniversary of the May 9th Accra Sports Stadium disaster when our President visited Togo unannounced.

Mr. Kwabena Agyepong can help us and for that matter the people of Ghana if he can tell us why the President?s visit to Togo was unannounced and the number of Ministers and members of the media houses who accompanied him on the visit. He can also take advantage to affirm or deny that such a ceremony as captured in our story on Monday took place.
