John Atta Mills Reportedly Sick

Ghanaian President, John Atta Mills, is reportedly sick and have visited South Africa several times seeking medical attention. The Ghanaian Government has remained silent on the issue despite persistent rumors in the country.

John Evans Atta Mills was born on July 21, 1944. He was inaugurated on 7 January 2009, having defeated the ruling party candidate Nana Akufo-Addo in an upset by a 50.23%–49.77% vote in the 2008 election. He was Vice-President of Ghana from 1997 to 2001 under then President Jerry John Rawlings; subsequently he stood unsuccessfully in the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections as the candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Ghana is regarded as one of the most democratic and progressive country in Africa.
