Nana Ama Kufuor To Marry Eyadema (5)

The Palaver can now confirm Ms Nana Ama Kufuor, daughter of President John Agyekum Kufuor, President of the Republic of Ghana, is not only having an affair with President Faure Gnassingbe Eyadema, President of the Republic of Togo and son of the late dictator and President-For-Life-Till-Death of Togo, General Gnassingbe Eyadema who ruled Togo for 38 years, the young lady is actually betrothed to young President Faure Gnassingbe Eyadema.

?Odikro' picked it up in his column in their issue last Tuesday and wished to know whether Nana Ama was having an affair with Faure, and whether it was true that Nana Ama was expecting Faure's baby.

Do you remember about two months ago when in an inexplicable move, President Kufuor dashed off to Kumasi where he received the 38-year old President Faure Gnassingbe in audience? Yes, that was when the deal was done. A large delegation from Togo, including several old ladies, accompanied the young Togolese President to Kumasi where they met President Kufuor in his family house and, in accordance with custom, "knocked on the door" and formally asked for the hand of Nana Ama in marriage.

Of course, the hand was willingly given. ?Ghana' Palaver sources close to the Kufuor family have confirmed that the pair have been "going together" for some time and that marriage was always on the cards and inevitable. President Kufuor family sources and NPP Government sources have been unusually tight-lipped about the affair and these developments but have dropped hints about a fear that critics would draw a linkage between the Nana Ama/Faure betrothal and President Kufuor's inability to speak out against Faure when he was installed President in a "constitutional" coup d'etat by the Togolese top military brass following the death of the father Generalissimo Gnassingbe Eyadema.

That move was met with world-wide condemnation and upon pressure by West African Leaders minus President Kufuor and led by President Obassanjo of Nigeria, the Togolese military backed down and Faure stepped down, though farcical elections held a few months later restored Faure Gnassingbe Eyadema back to power as President of Togo.
