Yajzi Exposed Over 10% Demand -Independent

Facts emerging after days of investigations by The Independent into the actual motive behind the on-going revelations upon revelations and controversy surrounding the purchase of the uncompleted hotel building close to the private residence of President John Agyekum Kufuor, have established that Ms Gizelle Yajzi is only concocting some of the stories to ostensibly have her pond of flesh.
The Independent can reveal that the woman at the centre of the controversy, who is an Iraqi by nationality, has a pent up feeling against President Kufuor and his Economic Team that was then led by the then Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Mr Yaw Osafo Maafo, over what she, Madam Gizelle Yajzi describes as breach of contract and trust.
During the investigations, unimpeachable sources dropped hints that suggest that Ms Yajzi is miffed at what, in here estimation, is clear cheat, daylight robbery and raw deal meted out to her by the government of Ghana by refusing a request she made on government, which request she sees as legitimate. The sources that Madam Yajzi made a demand that 10% of a loan of $16million the government secured from the Kuwaiti Fund from the government of Kuwait in the first term of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) be paid to her.
According to sources, Gizelle Yajzi first proved her merit to the Kufuor administration when she successfully assisted it to uncover strings of deals and embezzlements by assigns of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on a $65 million Spanish government loan facility to Ghana when that party runs national administration. The deals were achieved through over-invoicing and over-payment to contractors in 1998. Those embezzlement, sources say, led to the foreclosure of what was intended as an annual Spanish Facility to Ghana for the provision of certain facilities in the country.
When the NPP took over the reigns of government Gizelle Yajzi helped them track those ?lost' monies and government was able to recover a paltry sum of $2million. Also, the Kufuor administration was able to work for the restoration of the suspended financial facility. "It was the exposure of that corrupt practice through the assistance Ms Yajzi that became the favourable reference point between her and the NPP government in 2001 when President Kufuor took office," a source close to government disclosed during investigations.
Later Ms Yajzi approached the government claiming she could arrange for a loan facility from the Kuwaiti government. The investigations further revealed that Ms Yajzi, a self-styled high flier, had the opportunity to travel with the then Finance Minister, Mr Osafo Maafo to Kuwait but that trip yielded no benefit as they could not lay hands on any clue that could lead them on to secure any financial deal. The government, the investigations established, later ignored Ms Yajzi and managed to secure a loan of $16million from the Kuwaiti government which was used to finance the extension of the western power line by lining up more transmission grids in parts of the Western Region.
Governmnet sources who confirmed the revelations added that, when Ms Yajzi discovered that the government had managed to secure a loan from Kuwaiti she quickly resurfaced and made a claim, in writing, for 10% of the amount with the assertion that it was through her instrumentality that the loan was secured. But government sources have debunked her assertions saying "she was not part of the negotiating team" that actually secured the facility.
"Her claim," the government sources corroborated, "was rejected by the government since there was not such agreement with her." Meanwhile intelligence sources have hinted The Independent that the ubiquitous Gizelle Yajzi was also given the sack somewhere in Latin America for the same conduct which they saw as a threat and decided to sever relations with her. The intelligence sources again labeled Ms Yajzi as a professional and political opportunist who studies situation and decides to fix herself there no matter the risk involved.
