Former Black Stars legend and two-time Afcon winner Opoku Afriyie ‘ Bayie’ believes the Black Stars of Ghana can win the Afcon 2019 trophy if they can do away with fear and panic and have confidence in themselves.
Opoku Afriyie ‘Bayie’ was an integral part of the Ghanaian team who won the 1978 and 1982 Cup of Nations adding up to the two Afcon trophies that the country already had and emerged as the Joint top scorer together with Segun Odegbami(Nigeria) and Phillip Omondi(Uganda) with three goals.
Black stars are still on the hunt to end their 37 years of trophy drought and Ghanaians just can’t wait for the day they will win their 5th Afcon, more soo because majority of the Ghanaian youth were not born before 1982 when Ghana won its last Afcon trophy.
Speaking on the Ash Fm Super sport he said “I have the believe and hope that Ghana can win the Afcon trophy, but they should do away with fear and panic and have confidence in themselves”
He also made an appeal to Ghanaians to rally behind the team as they go to the Cup of Nations.
“Ghanaians should support the Coach and his team because every player in the team is capable of winning the trophy for Ghana”
