65 juvenile players selected in Asante-Akim South

Juaso (Ash), Feb 1, GNA - The Ashanti Regional Football Association (RFA) has selected 65 juvenile players in the Under 14 and 17 categories at a 93Justify your Inclusion" exercise at Juaso in the Asante-Akim South District.

In the highly patronised exercise, 37 players were selected for the Under 14 division with the remaining 28 for the Under 17 category. Over 300 players from all parts of the District who converged at the Juaso Secondary/Technical School Park were offered the opportunity to justify their inclusion.

Mr Asare Lartey, Regional Football Development Officer, who briefed the GNA Sports after the exercise, said it formed part of a four-year development plan of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to unearth talents at the grassroots.

He said the selected players would further be pruned down at the Winneba Sports College, adding that the remaining players would be groomed to ensure sustainable supply of players to the various national teams.

Mr Lartey said that a similar exercise would soon be organised to select ladies under the Plan and commended the District Assembly for its immense involvement in the organising the exercise.
