Ghana Football Association chairman Ben Koufie has revealed that as manu as seven coaches have so far expressed interest in coaching the country’s senior national team, the Black Stars.
Accoding to Mr. Koufie, the seven coaches include five foreigners and a Ghanaian, Mohammed Polo, a former player of the Black Stars.
The expartriates are made up of two Portuguese, an Argentine, a German – Burkhard Ziese, and the former coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Ian Porterfield.
The GFA chairman disclosed this during interaction with newsmen after launching the five-year development plan in the Brong Ahafo Regional capital of Sunyani last Tuesday.
Touching on the GFA’s next move with regard to the recent behaviour of the Black Stars coach, Milan Zivadinovic, he said the FA knows the next line of action to take to take to retrieve the large amount of money he owes the nation, stressing that the coach’s bad conduct had been reported to FIFA.
He noted that even though the Yugoslav cach was given a 10-day ultimatum to report for duty in Ghana or face sanctions, he had replied that he would not comply with the directve.
Mr. Koufie also reiterated that the demotion exercise for the premier league and the promotion of first division teams would definitely come off, indicating that the national first division football league would take off soon to determine those teams which will fill the vacuum to be created by demoted permier league clubs.
According to him, Tudu Mighty Jets whose legal action against the FA delayed the commencement of theleague have now apologized for their misdeed. This has been acceptaed, thereby paving the way for the smooth commencement of the competition.
He disclosed that the GFA has asked Mighty Jets to do other things after which the league would immediately take off. Asked if the delay of the Division One league would not affect the FA’s calendar, he said the association has the right ro prolong the football league to suit its own programme.
