Ghana will face Cameroon in the finals of the Women’s football competition at the ongoing All Africa games in Congo.

The Black Queens will lock horns with their Cameroonian counterparts today after the latter defeated Nigeria 2-1 to book a place at the finals.

Ghana had earlier secured a narrow 1-0 victory over fellow West African counterparts Cote d’ Ivoire in the first semi final match on Tuesday afternoon before Cameroon saw off Nigeria in the other Semi-final game to set a date with the Black Queens.

Coach Yusif Basigi’s side had to depend on the drawing of lots to confirm their place at the Semi-finals of the competition having managed an equal head-to-head with South Africa at the Group stages.

A strong performance against Cote d’ Ivoire on Tuesday afternoon eventually earned them a place to compete for Gold in this year’s All Africa games competition.

Today’s crucial tie will be the second time the two sides will be meeting in the finals of the All-Africa Games and the fourth time in the year 2015.

Ghana will hence be seeking a colossal revenge over their counterparts after losing 1-0 in the finals at the last edition of the competition going on to suffer elimination from the 2016 Olympic Games qualifiers at the hands of the Central Africa side. Both sides shared honours at the Group stages after the game ended in a 1-1 stalemate.

The situation will hence see Ghana double their medals at this year’s multi-sports competition with at least a silver medal in football.
