ASFA Yennenga beat Ashgold 4-2 in penalty shoot-out

Kumasi, Dec. 13, GNA - ASFA Yennenga of Burkina Faso beat Ashgold 4-2 goal aggregate in a penalty shoot-out to enter the semi final stage of the ongoing Otumfuo Invitational Soccer Tournament played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Tuesday.

The match, with goalless score line in the first half ended 1-1 in regulation time with each side scoring from penalty kicks in the second. It was Yennenga, who broke the deadlock with the first goal through skipper Alassane Ismael in the 85th minute when substitute Ouettara Aboubecar was brought down in the penalty box in the 86th minute. Undaunted by this shocker, Ashgold moved deep into the vital area and pinned the Burkinabe and succeeded in equalising in a similar way through Sadik Adams when Samuel Kwarteng was brought down. This was after three minutes of the Burkinabe's goal.

ASFA Yennenga would meet Nigeria's Enyimba in the semi finals on Thursday, while King Faisal who beat Africa Sports 1-0 in the opening match on Monday play Kumasi Asante Kotoko in a similar semi-final match, Wednesday. Richard Awuah of Ashgold was adjudged the best player of the march and he had a 20-inch colour television as his reward.
