Abedi, Okocha, Milla light up Lagos

Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos will come alive today as former African legends storm the pitch for a promotional match.

Milan legend and former World Player of the Year, George Weah will top the bill of African legends who will participate in an exhibition game involving the Nigerian squad of the 1994 Super Eagles.

Other stars are Tony Yeboah and Abedi Pele of Ghana. Yousouf Fofana and Abdullahi Traore from Cote d’Ivoire, Roger Mila, Stephen Tataw (Cameroon), Kalusha Bwalya (Zambia), Mark Fish, Phil Masinga Shoun Battlell all from South Africa and Titi Camara, Guinean legend.

Some of the stars expected include, Peter Rufai, Daniel Amokachi, Victor Ikpeba, Tijani Babangida, Garba Lawal, Austin Okocha and Taribo West. Meanwhile, former Super Eagles left winger, Emmanuel Amuneke has expressed readiness to display his skills once again as the Super Eagles ‘94 squad confront African legends in the promotional match. Speaking to SoccerStar ahead of the encounter, the one-time African Footballer of the Year declared that he was happy that the Super Eagles ‘94 squad have made a big impact in the history of the game development.

"I am very delighted that Nigerians are still grateful for the Super Eagles ‘94 squad achievement. The match is going to give the retired players an opportunity to show the young players in the current Eagles team that we are committed to the game of football despite our retirement from the round leather game. This match will give the retired African players the chance to display their skills on the field of play," he stated.

The erstwhile Julius Berger gaffer added that the match would motivate the Super Eagles players to get the World Cup ticket.
