Ghanaian ex-international, Abedi Pele, during his SUPERSPORTS ROAD SHOW in Nigeria recently paid a visit to the SOS Village for motherless babies in Lagos. This was a part of the player?s Super Sport-bankrolled promotions for the continental television network.
Pele was received on arrival at the Isolo, a Lagos sub urban area, by the Director of the Home, Mr.Adetola and the Public Relations Officer Jean Jeje. After calling on the various dormitories of the home, the player donated Super Sport customized souvenirs to the inmates.
During the visit, Pele also took time off to deliver mind-healing words to the babies. He told them not to allow their pathetic conditions depress them. ?I am from an equally depressed and difficult background.
?But with determination, I was able to overcome my difficulties to achieve what I have been able to, today. Wake up your minds and souls and your bodies would do what your minds command. No one is above the will of the Lord and that is why I believe that the Almighty Allah, will see you all through your present predicaments.
?Do not give up at all because you have neither father, nor mother. You have the Lord and He is majority. God bless you all, Amen,? the player, who would leave his fate to play for his country at the World Cup next year in the hands of the people, prayed. Before leaving, Pele played in a novelty match between two selected sides of the Motherless Home. He featured for each side in each of the halves; scoring a goal.
