Ghanaian second tier side Accra Lions continued their mini-resurgence when defeating Danbort 2-1 in their Division One League match on Saturday.
The visitors won the Zone Three match thanks to first-half goals from George Attram and Rauf Salifu in the game played in Nungua.
But it was the home side that raced into the lead on two minutes when Danbort took advantage of a lapse in concentration to score from the edge of the box.
A determined Accra Lions side hit back instantly when Salifu broke free to cross for Attram to head home to restore parity.
Buoyed by that confidence and the silkiness of talented winger Fatawu Hamidu, Lions took the game by the scruff of the neck and dominated the exchanges despite the difficult playing surface.
It came as no surprise in the 31st minute when Amoah proved instrumental as he crossed for Hamidu whose first attempt was saved by the goalkeeper before Salifu connected to put Lions in the lead.
Danbort returned from the break determined to at least get a point from the game but Lions were resolute in defence while causing some problems for the home side’s defenders until the final whistle.
The result stayed the game at the final whistle and makes it two wins out of two matches for Accra Lions and will help them move up on the table even though some matches will be played on Sunday.
