In-form Anderlecht winger Frank Acheampong is among three players fighting to take the place of crocked Andre Ayew in Ghana starting line-up against Mozambique in an African Cup of Nations qualifier on Thursday.
Acheampong must fend off competition from new sensation Evans Mensah and WAFA youngster Samuel Tetteh for the position.
However, the Belgium-based winger appears to be in pole position to replace the Swansea City star following his riveting displays for the European side.
Ayew has been ruled out of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier with an ankle injury, given Acheampong a chance to stake a claim in the team.
The Black Stars will secure early qualification to the continental showpiece in Gabon next year with wins over the Mambas over the two-legged ties.
