Dormaa Ahenkro, (B/A) May 18, GNA - The 2009/10 Glo Premier League Champions, Dormaa Aduana Stars have appealed to the Ghana Football Association and the Premier League Board to assist in upgrading the Agyeman Badu Park at Dormaa Ahenkro in time for the Africa Champions League and the local Top Four tournaments.
Mr Edward Kwabena Asare, Chairman of the Club made the appeal in an interview with GNA Sports shortly after the Chairman of the Premier League Board, Yaw Abra-Appiah presented the 2009/10 Glo Premier League trophy to the Club at a colourful ceremony at Dormaa Ahenkro.
The ceremony was heavily patronised by members of the Traditional Council, citizens and an enthusiastic crowd of supporters from the area. Mr Asare said Aduana Stars deserve special awards and commendation from the country's football governing bodies for being the first ever debutants to annex the ultimate prize in the annals of the country's soccer history. The Chairman said it was the plan of the Club to host all home matches at Dormaa Ahenkro to avail the Club and its management with the opportunity to enjoy the full support of its teeming home fans.
He said it is for this reason that the management of the Club is making frantic efforts to get the Agyeman Badu Park re-shaped to enable it host not only local but international matches.
Mr Asare explained added that there is the n eed for immediate steps to construct more stands for spectators as well as separate rooms to be created for pressmen and dignitaries at the Park.
The Club's Vice Chairman, Mr Kwabena Konadu alias Joekona, a Sunyani-based businessman extended invitation to all well-meaning Brong Ahafo citizens both at home and abroad to contribute towards the Club's bid to climax its achievements with sterling performance in the Africa Champions League tournament and the local League.
In a thrilling coronation match that preceded the presentation ceremony Aduana Stars defeated Berekum Arsenals by two goals to nil.
Samuel Asiedu, captain of Aduana Stars received the Glo Premier League trophy and handed it over to Osagyefo Agyeman Badu, Omanhene of the Dormaa Traditional Area, who is also the Life Patron of the Club, and was flanked by members of Dormaa Traditional Council and Presidents of various Traditional areas in the Brong Ahafo Region.
