Accra, Sept 12, GNA - Three Ghanaian referees are to officiate in the impending West Africa Football Union, (WAFU) Under-21 Soccer competition to be hosted by Ghana from September 14-17.
The referees are Justus Agbeko and Annan Lomotey of Accra and Nicholas Djomoah from the Eastern Region.
Information gathered by the GNA Sports reveals that the referees will join three other referees from the participating countries for the tournament scheduled to kick start on Thursday, September 15, a day after the balloting.
Each participating team is expected to come along with a referee, according to the rules of the competition. The tournament is in commemoration of the 30th Anniversary of the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) in collaboration with WAFU.
Meanwhile, Senegal is the first country to arrive in Accra on Sunday night for the tournament.
Mr Fred Pappoe, Member of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the tournament told the GNA Sports that Niger and last minute substitute for Cape Verde, Benin are expected to arrive on Tuesday.
