Aggrey Memorial Zion Schools wins

Aggrey Memorial Zion Secondary School, Central Region inter schools and colleges 'Milo soccer' champions, gained a hard 2-1 victory over their counterparts from Potsin Ahmadiyaa in the finals of the inter schools and colleges Milo soccer competition match played at the Adisadel school park on Wednesday.

Although the boys from Potsin lost the match, they played an impressive game and matched their opponents squarely throughout.

Their superb ball possession coupled with fluent passes and inter positional changes enabled them to remain on top in the initial stages of the game.

However, the champions found their rhythm in the 10th minute, and five minutes later, outside left, Abeka Obosu, netted the opener in a goalmouth melee.

Undaunted by this early setback, the Ahmadiyaa boys threw everything into attack and dictated the pace, and were rewarded with an equaliser in the 30th minute, through their centre forward, Justice Odzita.

The second half, saw both teams struggling hard to carry the day but the champions had the edge in the attack and scored the match winner through Obosu, who played a yeoman's game, in the 55th minute.

From then on, their opponents took control of the game and twice came close to scoring but their forwards shot wide and even though they continued to dictate the pace of the game, they could not find the net until full time.

In the girls soccer finals, Ghana National college beat Mfantsiman 3-0.

St Augustine's college, whipped Adisadel college 61-37 in the basketball contest, while in the Girls encounter, Wesley Girls High School defeated Holy Child 32-21.

In the volley ball competition, Cape Coast technical institute, beat Adisadel college 2-1 to become the volley ball champions.
