Akotokyir youth are gala champions

Cape Coast, June 26, GNA - Akotokyir Youth on Saturday upset their Abura counterparts with a 2-0 win in a special soccer gala match played at the Cape Coast Robert Mensah Sports stadium. The match formed part of fun games organised by the Cape Coast District branch of the Apostolic Church of Ghana to create awareness on the HIV/AIDS pandemic and enhance unity among the youth of the church.

Thirteen branches participated in the games that featured soccer, table tennis, tug-of-war, cards, oware, drafts, ampe and Ludu. Right from the blast of the referees whistle, both teams started the game on a fast but it was the Akotokyir lads who had the edge in attack and scored the opener in the 10 the minute through inside right, Robert Obeng.

On resumption of the second half, the Abura Youth made two changes but this did not deter Akotokyir from raising the tally to 2-0 through Obeng to grab the gala cup.
