Ashanti gold has completed the signing of Berekum Arsenal?s mercurial striker Alex ?Obiri?Asamoah for an undisclosed fee, following successful negotiations between the two clubs on Tuesday.
Speaking to Spacefm in Sunyani Alhaji Yakubu Moro, chairman of Berekum Arsenal said Alex Asamoah has signed two years contract with Ashanti gold.
According to the Arsenal Boss Arsenal will benefit forty percent from any future transfer of the player.
Asked if the absence of Alex Asamoah will not affect his team in its Confederation Cup Campaign, he responded.?We have about forty seven registered players and I do not see why the absence of one player should affect the team. Alex Asamoah is a young player who was superb last season but we still have some experienced players around. You can talk of Ibrahim Yahaya, Osei Kofi Chika, Salu Yakubu etc?
On whether he intended to sell more players to raise money for the Confederation Cup Campaign, Alhaji Yakubu said that will depend on today?s meeting with the Minister of Education and Sports. If the government decides to help them he will keep all his players to enable his team perform well in Africa next season.
Berekum Arsenal and three other clubs have qualified to play in African Club competitions next season and all the four are seeking the help of government to enable them to confirm or otherwise their participation.
