All Blacks ready to play Premier League next year

Agona Swedru, Dec 27, GNA - Mr George Afriyie, Chairman of Swedru All Blacks Football Club has assured supporters that the team would gain promotion to play in the Premier League in next year's football season. He said the performance of the players had been very impressive and he has the conviction that the Club would qualify when they play in the Middle League in January next year to pave the way for their re-entry into the premiership. Mr Afriyie said this when he spoke to the GNA Sports at Swedru after his team beat Agona Fankobaa two nil to lift the "President's Memory Lane Sports Fiesta" Cup. The match forms part of the initiative of the National Sports Council to revive traditional rivalry among local football clubs across the regions on Boxing Day.

Mr Afriyie said that since he took over the administration of the Club, the team had gone ahead to win all their matches both at home and away, adding that 'this tells you that team was well prepared to perform creditably in the forthcoming Middle League. The Chairman said due to sound management and an all-inclusive involvement from both old and new players as well as officials of the Club, rowdy behaviours and other unwanted practices of the spectators had reduced considerably. He announced that the successful arrangement to bring ensure incident-free matches in the areas has been recognised by Ghana Football Association (GFA) when it declared the Swedru Sports stadium as one of the most disciplined centres in the country.

Mr Afriyie advised the players to be disciplined and dedicated to their training so as to improve upon their performance, adding that management would not entertain any player who would not conform to training and discipline. The Chairman said management was prepared to make the necessary financial support and resources available to ensure that the team qualify to the premiership and appealed to companies and organizations to assist the team in its efforts to qualify for the premiership.
