Allegri jumps to Asamoah's defence

Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri says Kwadwo Asamoah is in line to start in Wednesday's league game with Cagliari, despite the midfielder’s blunder against Inter Milan last weekend.

The Ghanaian lasted the entire duration of their Sunday's 2-1 away defeat to the Nerazzurri, but was left ruing a horrendous back pass which led to the home side's winning goal.

"As for the midfield positions, Sami Khedira will be rested having played seven matches in a row from start to finish but with Mario Lemina, Kwadwo Asamoah, Hernanes and Miralem Pjanic all capable of playing that role, we have a strong replacement," Allegri said at his press conference.

"Three of the above will feature tomorrow.

"Asamoah's mistake [against Inter]? These things happen.

"The game against Inter saw a below-par performance from the whole team."

Asamoah, who joined the side in 2012, has made three Serie A and a Champions League appearances for the Old Lady this season.
