Ghana’s Daniel Amartey has refused to be drawn on reports linking his future away from Danish giants FC Copenhagen.

The versatile youngster, who fits in well at central defence, defensive midfield and can also play at right-back, is a subject of interest from clubs in mainstream Europe after one season with the former Danish champions.

Copenhagen are adamant the 20-year-old remains at the club for another season and have reportedly been dismissive of offers from clubs like Marseille, Nantes and Monaco in France, Galatasaray, AS Roma and Leicester City from the English Premier League.

The club have admitted only a monster bid could force them to cash in on Amartey’s sale and fresh reports in the Danish media claim Leicester are preparing to return with an improved offer though figures are not mentioned.

Amartey, the former Inter Allies trainee who arrived from Sweden’s Djurdagens IF in a five-year deal last summer, will however not be drawn on talks about his future.

”I don’t have much to say. I have more years left on my contract, and what else must be done, is taken care of by my agent and the club. I'll now focus on the league and how to be a champion,” he says.

Meanwhile, Amartey’s agent Hasan Cetinkaya also confirms there are concrete offers for his player.

”Of course I will not comment on the names of the clubs, but I can say so much that it is true that there are specific ideas and great interest for Daniel.

”There are big bids, which is the size that is very unusual for players in Scandinavia," he claims.

Club manager Ståle Solbakken is on record to be unwilling to sell and Cetinkaya admits they are ready to respect whatever the outcome of the decision that will eventually be taken on the bids for Amartey.

”Ståle brought Daniel to FC Copenhagen and has a large share in his development. He has given him tremendous confidence, and it is solely his decision whether he will sell Daniel now.

”We will stand firmly behind Ståle Solbakken's decision. Daniel is doing really well in Copenhagen, but of course he also has ambitions to play at the highest level,” he stated.

Amartey is set to miss the next two league games against Midtjylland and AGF after receiving a straight red card in the 28th minute of Copenhagen's 1-1 stalemate with Nordsjaelland on Sunday.
