Mathew Amoah says regular playing time at club level is crucial to his international career with the Ghana national team.
The Black Stars striker confirmed this after extending his contract with Dutch side, NAC Breda by another three years.
Amoah, 29, and a great source of goals for Breda with eight to his name this season says he shunned other offers to enjoy regular football in the Dutch Eredivisie.
"It is true that a few clubs wanted me to join them but I wanted assurances that I will get regular playing time in order to put me in shape for future national assignments and this to me is very important," the Ghana striker said.
"The fans and everybody here have treated me well, hence my decision to stay and help to win all that we can. Football is all about playing and enjoying yourself on the field and at the moment, I am experiencing that here."
The signing of the new deal will keep Amoah with "The Rats" until the end of the 2013/2014 season. He joined the side three seasons ago after a lack of first team opportunities at German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.
