Appiah Gets 3-Match Ban

The Turkish Football Federation Disciplinary Board (PFDK) has banned Fenerbahce's defensive midfielder Stephen Appiah for 3 games for head-butting an opponent.

Appiah head-butted Kayserispor Erciyesspor player Emre Toraman last weekend and immediately received a red card. The Ghanaian player claimed that Emre had racially abused him. Emre denied any wrongdoing.

At its meeting today in Istanbul, the PFDK decided to ban Appiah from three matches for misconduct.

Fenerbahce has the right to appeal the banning.

Despite the dismissal of Appiah, Fenerbahce went on to rout Kayseri Erciyesspor 6-0 in their opening match of the season played last weekend.
