Stephen Appiah has personally invited the Chief Justice and the entire Judicial Service to his testimonial match on June 27.

Appiah was at the Supreme Court on Monday to meet with representatives of Her Lordship Georgina Theodora Wood to officially hand them invitation to the event being organized by Primeval Media.

Supreme Court judges Justice Anin Yeboah and Justice Sulley Gbadegbe were on hand to receive the Stephen Appiah and his entourage.

“It is not every player who will play football and get to the zenith of the game,” Justice Anin Yeboah who also serves on the Disciplinary Committee of CAF noted.

“You’ve played for Juventus and you’ll recall that very few Africans will have the opportunity to play at that level.

“They call them the Old Lady of Italian football and have offered so much to world football.

“If the history of football will be written in Ghana, it will not be complete without your name.

“This is because you were the first person to captain the team to where we are now – that is to play at the highest level of football, the World Cup.”

The testimonial match for Stephen Appiah will be preceded by a fund-raising dinner on June 26 at the State Banquet Hall.

But Appiah is being urged to join forces with his former professional teammates to help revive the dwindling fortunes of juvenile football in Ghana.

“Players serve as role models to the young ones so our players need to emulate you – that whatever they do might be emulated by the young generation,” Justice Sulley Ggadegbe said.

“As you leave with your name intact, we want to say congratulations.

“You have actually played your part so well.”
