Asamoah Gyan scored on his injury return for Al Ain to hand Ghana a timely boost ahead of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations which is barely two months away.
Gyan’s strike could however only earn his side a point as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Al Nasr on Sunday.
The Black Stars captain who was playing his first game in over a month, converted a second-half penalty to earn the spoils for the Boss at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium.
Al Ain fell behind six minutes into the restart with Tariq Ahmed giving the visitors the lead.
But Gyan stepped up to convert a 77th-minute penalty and went on to play full throttle to prove his fitness.
This means the Black Stars’ efficient finisher will be ready way in time to help Ghana at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Equatorial Guinea barring any unforeseen developments.
Al Ain failed to build upon the momentum to ultimately drop vital points at home in the Arabian Gulf League.
Zlatko Dalic’s side are now placed 6th in the league but crucially with a game in hand.
The former champions will next travel to face Al Ittihad Kaiba in the league.
