Black Stars of Ghana forward and reigning BBC African Player of the Year award winner, Asamoah Gyan took time off his schedule for the Nigeria Football Awards ceremony to visit the GloWorld Shop in Port Harcourt, Rivers State where he had his GloMobile SIM card registered in line with SIM Registration policy of the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC).
Gyan, a brand ambassador of telecommunication giant, Globacom was honoured in Port Harcourt on Tuesday by the organizers of the annual AIT Nigeria Football Awards as the Most Influential African Player at the 2010 World Cup.
“This is my very first visit to Port Harcourt and my first time to visit a GloWorld… I am impressed because the atmosphere and service at the GloWorld ranks well with other telecom shops I have visited in the UK, France and Italy where I have lived”, remarked Gyan who was received at the Port Harcourt Regional Office of Globacom by the Group Business Director, Mr. Rowland Odolokor.
Congratulating Gyan for the laurel he won at the Nigerian Football Awards, Odolokor said the recent signing of the player as a brand ambassador by Globacom is consistent with the company’s drive to empower youths to achieve excellence through the expression of their natural and learned skills.
“We are delighted to have you in our Regional Headquarters and are also proud of your achievements in the field of soccer”, Odolokor declared while receiving the Glo Ambassador who also is the leading scorer for English Premier League Club, Sunderland FC.
The Ghana International, who finished runners-up at the 2010 Glo-CAF Awards, recently penned a deal worth several millions of Ghana Cedi with GloMobile Ghana as brand ambassador.
