Assifuah's goal rescues Sion

...from defeat to Basel

Former Ghana U20 striker Ebenezer Assifuah came from the bench to score an important goal for FC Sion as they drew 2-2 with Swiss giants FC Basel.

The budding striker replaced Cyprus forward Demetris Christofi in the 61st and latched on to header from his Brazilian team mate Leo Itaperuna to bury the ball at the far post to make the score even in the 87th minute.

Sion took the lead in the 3rd minute but Valentine Stocker and Egypt striker Mohammed Salah found the back of the net to put the home side in the lead before Assifuah’s equalizer.

The goal was the first for the striker in the senior side having excelled with the Sion’s junior team.
