Accra Hearts of Oak will hold their delegates congress in Accra on Saturday. The congress, originally scheduled to be held every four years, has been postponed for over a decade now as a result of court wranglings. Saturday's event will be used to elect new directors for the club as well as a new management team.
Ahead of the congress, incumbent board chairman, Mr Ato Ahwoi, in an interview with an Accra based radio station; Joy FM, said he would not go for another term in office. He is however confident the new executive would guide the club to greater successes in the coming years.
"Hearts of Oak have been able to win a lot of laurels on the field, but off the field we haven't been able to be that successful", he said.
"Our finances haven't been in the best of shapes, and we hope that at this congress, we would put into place measures, schemes and methodologies which would ensure that our finances would take a turn for the better", he added.
"I have been board chairman for the past 12 years, and I want to state that I do not intend; and I would not put myself forward for another term as either a board member or the board chairman," Mr. Ahwoi said.
