Atsu begins 'dream career' with Chelsea

Ghana winger Christian Atsu has begun training with English giants Chelsea following a successful loan spell at Vitesse Arnhem.

The 22-year-old trained with the Blues for the first time on Wednesday since signing for them last summer, a move he described as a ‘dream come true’.

Atsu joined Chelsea from FC Porto on a five-year deal but was immediately loaned to the Dutch club in a move meant to aid his development with the guarantee of regular first-team football.

The former Rio Ave loanee is however determined to prove himself to manager Jose Mourinho for a regular first-team place this term.

Atsu is coming off a fruitful World Cup debut for Ghana in the ongoing tournament in Brazil.

He was however unable to help the Black Stars make it out of the group stage.

The swift winger was one of the first batch of players to leave the Black Stars camp following their early World Cup exit as he had to go gather his family and belongings in Holland in a move to London.

It is however unclear if the talented winger will remain with the club for this season with several clubs still interested in taking him on loan and to guarantee him regular top flight football.

Manager Jose Mourinho will however wait until the full complement of his squad return for pre-season before taking a definitive decision on the Ghana international.
