Atsu happy with Everton in Europa League

Ghana winger Christian Atsu is pleased with Everton’s 1-1 stalemate against Russian side Krasnodar in the Uefa Europa League on Thursday evening.

The Toffees needed a last strike from Cameroonian legend Samuel Eto’o to earn a draw from the tie at the Stadion Kuban’.

Atsu was handed a starting role by manager Roberto Martinez but was replaced just before the start of the second-half by Belgian Romelu Lukaku.

Eto’o's strike ensured Everton stay top of Group H and, Atsu is delighted with the point earned from the game.

“We are happy with the result because I always say that 0ne point is better than zero,” he told in the post-match interview.

“We had a fairly good game but they tried to win the game early and we managed to avoid that. We train as a team and it showed on our performance today. Thankfully the other teams also drew so that means that we are still leaders of the group.”

Atsu is on a season-long loan deal at Everton from Chelsea.
