Ghana were handed a massive injury boost on Thursday evening as crocked winger Christian Atsu shook off a hamstring injury to warm the Everton bench in their 2-0 loss at Hull City in the English Premier League on New Year Day.
The 22-year-old Chelsea loanee was unused substitute as Everton slipped to their fourth straight defeat.
Atsu had not been in the Toffees squad since suffering a hamstring injury in Everton’s Uefa Europa League loss against FK Krasnodar at the Goodison Park.
But after getting treatment at Chelsea and successfully warming himself back to training Everton manager Roberto Martinez handed him a place in his 18-man squad for the trip to Hull but did not use him.
Atsu is expected to travel to Spain to join the rest of the Black Stars contingent along with Leicester City’s Jeffrey Schlupp who scored in the Foxes’ 2-2 draw at Liverpool on Thursday.
