Augsburg stun Chelsea with fresh €30m demand for Baba

Baba Rahman’s move to Chelsea appears to have hit a snag after reports emerged that Ausgburg have rejected an improved €25m bid for the Ghana defender.

According to the Guardian, the German club are now demanding €30m after days of intense negotiations.

Baba Rahman has already agreed to personal terms with Chelsea in anticipation of the move after the English club made an improved €25m offer.

But Augsburg who signed the Ghanaian just a year ago from Greuther Furth for a reported €2.5m seems to be getting greedy as they now want more cash.

Baba Rahman’s advisor Kurt Okraku flew into Germany last week to join agent Sascha Empacher in a bid to get their client’s move to Chelsea done and dusted.

They were however given the shock of their lives when the top hierarchy at Augsburg extended their demands to €30m – sensing an opportunity to milk more cash out of Chelsea who are desperate to secure a cover for Cesar Apilicueta.

It is now unclear if Chelsea will agree to the fresh demands of the German club who have already signed Baba Rahman’s replacement in Philipp Max.

Talks are expected to run deep into transfer deadline day where one party will have to budge to make the move happen.
