Awako and Nii Adjei aid Mazembe in Peace Cup triumph

Ghana duo Gladson Awako and Daniel Nii Adjei won their first silverware in their second official games for new club TP Mazembe after aiding the DR Congo side register a 2-0 win over neighbouring Diables Noirs of Congo Brazzaville in a Peace match at the Alphonse Massamba-Debat stadium in Brazzaville last Friday, December 7.

The game dubbed ‘Match for Peace and Security in Central Africa’ was organized by the Regional Bureau of the United Nations for Central Africa (UNOCA) and the Confederation of African Football (CAF), in collaboration of the Congolese government.

The Ghana duo was handed a start in the starting line-up of the visitors but the former Berekum Chelsea midfielder Gladson Awako lasted the entire duration of the game while Nii Adjei became a victim of tactical substitution after defender Joël Kimwaki was shown the red card in the 73rd minute of the game.

Awako and Nii Adjei have so far featured in two games for Mazembe since joining the club a few months ago.
