Andre Ayew scored twice as Swansea overcame a much-changed Liverpool side 3-1 at the Liberty Stadium, with the Reds’ misery compounded by a red card for Brad Smith.
Jurgen Klopp made eight changes to his side, with one eye on Thursday’s visit of Villarreal, with Daniel Sturridge back in the side and youngsters Kevin Stewart and Pedro Chirivella in tandem in midfield.
The hosts began the game the brighter and took the lead after 21 minutes, Ayew escaping the attentions of Dejan Lovren and heading home Gylfi Sigurdsson’s corner.
The Swans then doubled their lead a little over 10 minutes later, Jack Corner bursting from midfield and curling a fine strike past goalkeeper Danny Ward.
Klopp opted to make changes at the break sending on Christian Benteke and Lucas Leiva and the striker grabbed a goal back on 64 minutes, heading Ojo’s corner past Lukasz Fabianksi.
Yet within minutes Ayew had restored their two-goal advantage, profiting from some poor defending before out-muscling Ojo and firing a low shot home.
The visitors were then reduced to 10 men with a little over 10 minutes to go, Smith given his second yellow of the afternoon after a clumsy foul on Kyle Naughton.
