Preparations began for the 2015-16 Barclays Premier League campaign as the Swans returned for pre-season training at Landore. New signings Andre Dede Ayew and Franck Tabanou have joined up with their new Swans teammates, where Garry Monk’s side yesterday underwent a series of fitness tests ahead of a busy pre-season schedule.
he Swans are set to embark on a pre-season training camp in Germany in July, where they will face Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach and German second tier side 1860 Munich before friendly tests back in the UK against Reading and Nottingham Forest.
And Swans manager Monk is pleased to get going again as he looks ahead to what he believes could be the most important season in the club's history.
Mr Monk said: “It’s good to get everyone back. It’s a shorter break than normal, but circumstances have dictated that, with last season finishing later and the new one starting a week earlier.
“I’m pleased we’ve managed to get a lot of our main transfer business done early, which is a bonus. It means we can start working with the new players sooner rather than later, which is vital because of the way we approach pre-season training.
“It's a very important season for us - probably the most important in the club’s history. So it’s vital we prepare the right way from the start.’’
